Claude Code Community Day — Hong Kong

40 people showed up with laptops ready to build. I co-hosted a Claude Code community event at Central Market, Hong Kong.

I am not a developer. But right now I am building things I never thought were possible for me.

I built an interactive, browser-based HTML app with built-in progress tracking to help me learn Mandarin from HSK1 all the way to HSK6 (among other things!). Things that definitely wouldn’t have been possible for me in the timeframe of a month or even days.

I haven’t felt this exact kind of magic since ChatGPT dropped in 2023. We have lived through a relentless blur of AI advancements since then. This past month alone felt like 6.

The spark

Getting my hands on OpenClaw shifted something, yes, but then I met Hanley Leung and he introduced me to Claude Code. It is a true magical unlock for absolutely anyone.

I know I am not the only one feeling this.

The event

I co-hosted a Claude Code Community Event in Hong Kong this weekend. 40 people showed up with laptops ready to work. I spent the afternoon going table to table helping people get set up.

The energy there was incredible. A 10-year-old was getting inspired by another 15-year-old who built a game with it, right next to seasoned professionals.

What I realized

I realized something looking around. The people at the forefront are not feeling fear about the future. They are feeling pure opportunity and an overwhelming excitement to create.

I built a free Starter Kit (set of Presentations, Reference Cards, Guides) to help anyone get past the initial setup block.

What is the very first thing you want to build?
